CASA of Mesa County (Court Appointed Special AdvocatesCASA Volunteers are sworn in as officers of the court and independently gather information on behalf of the court in cases of child abuse and neglect. CASAs meet with the child a minimum of once a month, and regularly gather information from everyone in the child's life, including parents, extended family, foster parents, teachers, medical professionals, attorneys, social workers and others. CASAs use the information they gather to report back to the Court about the status of the case and the well-being of the child. CASA only serves child abuse victims who have a current child welfare case and who are appointed by the courts to our program. Foster Grandparent Program - Senior Resource Development AgencyProvides volunteer opportunities for persons aged 55 and older to serve as mentors, tutors, and caregivers for children and youth with special needs. They serve throughout Pueblo County in day care centers, hospitals, head start programs schools, group homes, and non-profit agencies. Volunteers receive a tax-free stipend, reimbursement for transportation, assistance with meals during service, annual physical examinations, and accident and liability insurance. Restorative Justice Program - District Attorney's Office, 10th Judicial DistrictDiverts first-time juvenile offenders from the traditional court process and allows participants the opportunity to take responsibility for their actions through a discussion with parents, victims, and community volunteers. Through this process, the group is able to explore the harm that was caused as a result of the juvenile's poor choice. All participants develop creative solutions to the crime. Volunteers assist victims in moving toward healing and model acceptable standards of behavior. Senior Nutrition Program - Area Agency on Aging (Weld)The Senior Nutrition Program provides nutritious and delicious noon-time meals for seniors served at twenty-two sites throughout Weld County. Social and educational opportunities are also available before and after meals. Participants are provided with an opportunity to voluntarily contribute whatever they can afford to help offset the cost of the meal. Our suggested minimum donation is posted at each nutrition site. Time-Exchange Program - Time Bank of the RockiesTime Bank of the Rockies organizes shared time for those on the Western Slope to facilitate non-money-based exchange of resources and services. Time individuals spend helping others creates a time credit that can be used to get help or purchase goods available from other members. Time can be banked in whole hours or quarter hours. After becoming a member, individuals will be given access to the Time Bank website where they can post skills and talents they are willing to share as well as those they'd like to receive.
