Offers preventive Educational Counseling for Denver Public Schools students, utilizing adult volunteers along with Educational Counseling staff. Denver Kids provides year-round Educational Counseling, a one-to-one relationship-based, long-term preventive approach dedicated to building character, academic achievement, and positive development of the whole child. Creating trusting and collaborative relationships with our students, Denver Kids works to overcome barriers to academic success.
Denver Kids also recruits and trains adult volunteers to serve as mentors to students in the program. Activities, special events, and educational programs are provided throughout the year for the mentors and students. Each Denver Kids mentor commits to the program for one year and agrees to see the student twice a month. The professional counseling staff works closely with each mentor - providing them with expertise and guidance.
