General Information
Description of ServiceThis site is providing free tax preparation by appointment only. If homebound call to schedule an appointment. This site is open February 4th, 2019 - October 15th, 2019. Provides free tax return preparation services to low- and middle-income families, individuals, and seniors residing in Larimer County.

VITA or TCE can prepare:
- Form 1040 and 1040NR
- Schedule A, B, C (within limits), D, EIC, R, and some E
- Form 2441 (Child and Dependent Care Expenses)
- Form 8863 (Education Credits)
- Form 8812 (Child Tax Credit)
- Additional forms may be prepared, depending on the availability of certified preparers at the site

Intake ProcedureWalk-in during business hours to receive assistance. Persons who are house-bound or have special needs may call for more information and to inquire about an in-home appointment. Intake forms and consent forms must be completed before getting in line. Go to the website or to download, print and complete intake and consent forms.
Intake RequirementsClients should bring the following:
- Valid photo identification
- Copy of 2017 tax return
- Social security cards (or ITINs) for all family members. Alternatives include: (1) photocopy of social security cards for all family members (2) prior year tax return with the names and social security numbers listed if MCNC/NoCo prepared return, or (3) letter from the social security administration or Form SSA-1099
- A voided check or other verifiable bank routing and account numbers for Direct Deposit of refund.

Clients should also bring any of the following that apply:
- W-2 Forms from all jobs worked in 2018
- Income statements for Pension (1099-R) and Social Security (1099-SSA)
- Statements for all other income, such as self-employment (1099-MISC), interest and dividends (1099-INT) and brokerage statements (1099-B)
- Statements of cash income, prizes and awards
- College tuition and student loan interest statements (1098-T and Bursar’s Statement), plus documentation of education expense
- Lottery/gambling winnings and loses (1099-G)
- Alimony paid or received
- ACA Form 1095-A (if Health Insurance was purchased through the Marketplace
- ACA Form 1095-B or -C if health insurance was obtained through an employer or other source
- Only notarized Colorado Durable Power of Attorney is acceptable

Clients who wish to itemize deductions on Schedule A should also bring:
- Documentation of medical expenses paid out-of-pocket in 2018
- Mortgage interest statement
- Documentation of real estate taxes and personal property taxes paid in 2018
– check forms carefully
- Documentation of charitable contributions
Helpful TipsClients are seen on a first-come, first-served basis and may be asked to return another day if the maximum number of clients has registered for the day. Services are provided based on available resources and on a case-by-case basis. Published operating hours are subject to change based on factors such as weather, availability of volunteers, interruptions in site availability and technical problems.

EligibilityLarimer County residents may be eligible to receive free tax assistance (within complexity limits) if:
- Are age 59 or under, with income up to $66,000
- Are 60 years or older
- Are home bound or have special needs
- Are a Non-Resident Alien, with or without an ITIN or SSN.
