What is a Representative Payee?
- A person or organization that is appointed to receive Social Security or Supplemental Security Income (SSI) benefits for anyone who can't manage or direct the management of his or her benefits.
The Joseph Center determines the beneficiary's current needs and keeps records of payments received and expenses such as rent, utilities and medications.
The Joseph Center also keeps the client involved as much as possible by helping them create a budget, counsel them about spending money responsibly and finding other benefits and services they may be able to qualify for.
