Description of Service
The APS Program offers protective services to AT-RISK-ADULTS.
Definition: "An individual eighteen years of age or older who is susceptible to mistreatment, self-neglect, or exploitation because the individual is unable to perform or obtain services necessary for his/her health, safety, or welfare or lacks sufficient understanding or capacity to make or communicate responsible decisions concerning his/her person or affairs."
Types of Abuse:
- Physical Abuse
- Sexual Abuse
- Caregiver Neglect
- Self Neglect
If you are concerned about a friend, neighbor or loved one in any of the above areas mentioned you are encouraged to call the Gunnison County Department of Human Services intake line at 970-707-7005 or 1-844-264-5437. If it is an emergency life threatening situation call 911 immediately.
We work closely with the Senior Resources Office to provide supportive care and resource information.
