General Information
Description of ServiceAid to the Blind (AB) provides a small cash assistance benefit to low-income residents who meet the Social Security Administration's definition of blindness. Aid to the Needy Disabled (AND) provides a small cash assistance benefit to low-income Colorado residents aged 18 to 59 who have at least a six-month total disability that precludes them from working.

AND/AB applicants/recipients must apply for Supplemental Security Income (SSI) benefits. The goal of these programs is to provide interim financial assistance while waiting for SSI approval.

EligibilityMust be Colorado resident, a citizen of the United States, a naturalized citizen or an eligible legal resident. Must be between 18 and 59 years old and meet disability requirements for the AND program or under 60 years old and meet blindness criteria for the AB program. Must meet all other eligibility requirements.
