SRDA seeks to play an advocate role in addressing the needs and concerns of senior citizens and to create and foster opportunities for their involvement in Pueblo's Community activities. To provide programs and projects that enhances the quality of life for the Community of Southern Colorado. SRDA provides opportunities for intergenerational programs and develops the resources which enable seniors to live independently.
SRDA has long been recognized as a model program which allows seniors the choice and opportunity to stay in the comfort of their own homes, but allows them to do so at a fraction of the cost of an institutional care facility. SRDA provides services to all of Pueblo County and contracts with other organizations, including the City and County of Pueblo, to offer the best comprehensive quality of care and meet the needs of our senior population. Our specialized programs also allow family members and care-takers access to support services and resources that enhance their roles and address their own quality of life.
The mission of SRDA is to provide programs and projects that enhance the quality of life for the senior community of Pueblo and increase opportunities for independent living. Through its inclusive structure, symbolized by SRDA’s umbrella logo, the agency ensures that Pueblo area senior citizens and other frail and handicapped persons maintain as healthy, self-reliant, and independent lifestyles as possible.
First incorporated on January 12, 1971, the agency was formed to provide nutritious meals to homebound seniors. Other needs were soon identified, such as homemaker services and transportation. In the early 80's ten programs were added, creating a comprehensive, coordinated, service delivery system that has been recognized as a model program by State Officials.
