In 1978, Father C.B. Woodrich, better known as "Father Woody," reaffirmed Holy Ghost's stance for and with the poor in society by becoming a "champion of the poor and homeless in Denver." By opening the church's doors to the homeless, he opened the hearts of people whose generosity later made possible the annual Christmas dinner for the needy, the daily sandwich line, and other services available at Holy Ghost.
