Provides Animal Assisted Psychotherapy (AAP) services to individuals and families. Also offers an educational environment and training program for students and clinicians to develop expertise in Animal Assisted Psychotherapy.
Our mission is to promote the mental and emotional health of individuals and families in Colorado and around the world by providing professional, research-supported Animal Assisted Psychotherapy (AAP) with rescued animals to people of all socio-economic backgrounds. We also aim to increase the knowledge and ethical practice of AAP through our international training and Certification program for mental health professionals and students.
Animal Assisted Therapy Programs of Colorado is one of the first counseling centers in the nation that specifically integrates teams of professional therapists and their therapy animals to facilitate the counseling process. AATPC started in 2010 and now operates out of 3 acre urban farm in Arvada.
