The School for the Performing Arts (SPA) exists to provide a community and interaction that instills a sense of value and confidence into every student. By offering a level of instruction and facility that exceeds what one would normally expect from a community of our size, the SPA offers students the opportunity to learn the value of the performing Arts by allowing them to explore their natural talents. The positive impact the Performing Arts School experience will have in their lives will serve as a platform for their self-expression and develop a talent in each person that can be enjoyed for a lifetime for themselves and by others.
The School for the Performing Arts (SPA) at the Historic Lincoln School is a milestone endeavor for North Eastern Colorado. The first not-for-profit school of its kind in the area, The SPA has created a venue for students of all ages to partake in the performing arts. A budding institution, The SPA in its inaugural year already has four areas of instruction including voice, piano, guitar and dance.
Historic Lincoln School
The school was opened in September of 1909. The opening of the School for the Performing Arts will mark the 100th anniversary of the building. The school district signed the contract in June of 1909 & it was to be completed by the opening of the school year that next fall. It all happened at the price tag of $5,700.00. It is estimated that the addition was put on in 1920 to plan for a growing Fort Morgan population. Lincoln School is listed on the National Register of Historic Places and the Colorado State Register of Historic Properties. The official designation took place on April 27, 2010, in recognition of this property’s contribution to the heritage of the State of Colorado.
