Boys & Girls Club of Pueblo County

General Information
Description of AgencySince 1972, the Boys and Girls Clubs of Pueblo County (BGCPC) has been at the forefront of positive youth development, working with young people from challenging economic, social, and family circumstances. We are dedicated to ensuring that young people in Pueblo County have greater access to quality programs and services that will enhance their lives and enrich their futures.

The Club is uniquely positioned to make a positive impact on the lives of young people in Pueblo County because our Clubhouses areā€¦

1. Located where kids need us most.
Clubhouses are intentionally located in areas high in poverty and crime, with limited opportunities for young people.

2. Open when kids need us most.
Every day after school, thousands of local children go home to empty houses. We know that the hours after school, until parents arrive home, is the peak time for juvenile crime and experimentation with drugs, alcohol, cigarettes and sex. Kids who are home alone also have more accidents and injuries, behavior problems and low academic achievement. But when kids participate in after school programs, like Boys & Girls Clubs, they are less likely to skip class, use drugs, smoke, drink alcohol or engage in sexual activity.

3. Affordable for the kids who need us most.
More than 90% of Club members live at or below the poverty level; the Club offers their families year-round afterschool and summer programming for an annual registration fee of only $15.

4. Are focused on providing what kids need and want most.
The Club offers a safe environment where young people can have fun and be themselves; interesting, constructive activities that channel their youthful energy in challenging pursuits; and adults who respect and listen to them.
MissionTo enable all young people, especially those who need us most, to reach their full potential as productive, caring, responsible citizens.
